THE AUTHOR The author, Michael Twomey B.C.L., LL.M., Ph.D. is a solicitor who practises in partnership law. He has been a Visiting Researcher in partnership law at Harvard Law School and has lectured extensively in Ireland and abroad and has contributed to Irish and international law journals on the area. At present he is a lecturer in partnership law in Trinity College Dublin and is also a consultant in partnership law to the Law Society of Ireland. He is a member of the Association of Partnership Practitioners (UK), the Law Society’s Working Group on Limited Liability Partnerships and the Business Law Committee of the Law Society. He is also the Partnership Law correspondent of the Irish law journal, The Commercial Law Practitioner. Dr. Twomey’s practice consists of advising clients either directly or through their solicitors on all aspects of partnership law, ranging from advising professional and investment partnerships on how to avoid partnership status in commercial enterprises to advising on the rights and duties of partners on the formation or dissolution of a partnership. He has advised: · The UK Law Commission regarding the reform of partnership law in the United Kingdom. · A leading Irish rock group on the terms of its partnership agreement · A big five Irish accountancy firm on issues of partnership law applicable to its practice · On the first investment limited partnership formed under the Investment Limited Partnerships Act, 1994 · A big five Irish law firm on partnership matters related to its practice
